NO. 6 ORANGE COAST REMAINS UNDEFEATED AS OEC VOLLEYBALL OFFICIALLY BEGINS

Orange Empire Conference volleyball action officially started last week with all nine teams playing at least one match on Wednesday and Friday.

The undefeated Orange Coast Pirates (10-0, 2-0) cruised to a couple of sweeps over Fullerton (3-4, 1-1) and Santa Ana (4-7, 0-2) in week one. OCC is also the lone OEC team that appeared in the California Community College Women's Volleyball Coaches Association (CCCWVCA) State Top 25 Rankings, coming in at No. 6.

Saddleback (5-2, 2-0) began the conference season with a pair of wins as well as they defeated both Cypress (3-8, 0-2) and Riverside City (3-10, 1-1) by scores of 3-1. The Bobcats finished second in last year's OEC standings and hope to make the leap to overtake OCC this season.

The Golden West Rustlers (5-1, 1-0) got off to a good start as they outlasted the Cypress in a five set battle on Friday night.

Irvine Valley was the other team with just one match in week one but took advantage of the opportunity as they swept Santiago Canyon (0-3, 0-2) on Wednesday night.

Fullerton and Riverside City also got in the win column, defeating SCC and SAC.
