Four OEC Teams Land on CCCWVCA Top 25 State Rankings
SANTA ANA, Calif. - The Orange Empire Conference (OEC) saw four of its women's volleyball teams voted onto the first edition of the California Community College Women's Volleyball Coaches Association (CCCWVCA) top 25 state rankings.
Irvine Valley earned the highest ranking for an OEC team, landing at the No. 8 spot following a 3-1 start to their season. The Lasers have played some tough competition thus far as three of their four opponents are also ranked in the top 25.
Coming in at No. 12 was Cypress, who is now 6-1 with their only loss being against No. 11 Pasadena City. The reigning OEC champions went undefeated at the LA Mission Kickoff Classic Tournament to stretch their winning streak to five games.
The Orange Coast Pirates are ranked No. 15 with a 3-1 record. OCC was on a three game winning streak before dropping a match to No. 4 Ventura by a score of 3-1. After a second place finish in the OEC standings last season, the Pirates are looking to make another run.
No. 23 Santa Ana made an appearance in the rankings for the first time in years as the Dons got off to a fast start. With a record of 5-0, SAC seems to have caught the attention of the rest of the state.
The rest of the best includes three more OEC teams with Golden West (2-2), Saddleback (4-0) and Fullerton (3-4) all listed. Riverside currently sits at 1-3 overall while Santiago Canyon is 0-4 to start the year.
