FULLERTON -- After a slight drift off the path on Monday, the Orange Coast College women's golf team regrouped and took care of business on Wednesday at the Fullerton Golf Course, capturing the 2025 Orange Empire Conference championship.
In the second round of the OEC Finals, the Pirates (27-1) shot a team score of 306, 20 shots better than Mt. San Antonio's team score of 326, which took some sting away from a Monday round that saw the Mounties (22-6) give Coast its only loss of the 2025 season.
Leading the way for the Pirates was freshman Sophie Thibodeau, who earned OEC Golfer of the Year honors after carding a 5-over-par, 72 on Wednesday. Pirate teammate Sofia Ingle was just three shots off of Thibodeau's pace after carding a 75, with Nalani Sam (79), Michelle Khin (80), Audrey Crinella (85) and Lilly Thurston (89) not too far down the leaderboard.
Thibodeau edged out Mt. San Antonio College's Kaitlyn Wang by one total shot for OEC Golfer of the Year with her 72 on Wednesday, giving her a 75.0 scoring average for the season. Wang carded a 76 and finished with a 75.2 average.
Joining Thibodeau and Wang for first-team honors include a trio of Pirates ... Ingle (76.8 average), Khin (77.8) and Sam (78.2), along with Mt. SAC's Kyrie Padero (80.7).
Second-team honors for the OEC went to Cuyamaca's Emma Rahn (83.3), Mt. SAC's Lauren Timassy (83.3), Mt. SAC's Leah Garcia (84.2), OCC's Thurston (86.7), OCC's Crinella (86.7) and Mt. SAC's Abby Price (90.0).
Up next for the Pirates is a trip up the coast to Olivas Links Golf Club for the Southern California Regionals, which take place Nov. 9-10, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
