Mounties GO Undefeated to Win Conference Crown
The Mt. San Antonio College women's golf team took on some tough competition throughout the Orange Empire Conference season, but the Mounties prevailed unscathed as they rolled through the 2024 season unbeaten to capture this year's conference title.
With five golfers earning All-OEC honors, the Mounties went a perfect 45-0 throughout the nine-match season against their fellow conference foes. Orange Coast stayed on their heels all season with eight second-place finishes and compiled a 35-10 record, followed by third-place Cuyamaca (28-17).
The OEC season came to an end on Wednesday on the Mesa Linda Course at the Costa Mesa Country Club, where Mt. SAC won both rounds of the two-day conference finals. On Monday, the Mounties carded a 303 and bettered that score with an impressive 300. OCC (314 on Monday, 316 on Wednesday) finished second in both rounds, while Cuyamaca (318-318) finished third.
Leading the way for individual top golfer for the second year in a row was Cuyamaca College sophomore Kiana Glossner, who finished the 2024 conference campaign with an 71.9 average. She shot 75 or better in seven of nine matches, including a 3-under-par 67 on the Mesa Linda Course during at the OEC Neutral match on Oct. 23. Glossner shot a 1-over 71 on Monday and a 3-over 73 on Wednesday.
The top golfer for the OEC finals was Mt. SAC's Kylie Lau, who shot a 72 on Monday and a 71 on Wednesday for a two-round total of 143, one shot clear of Glossner's 144. Lau had the second-lowest average for the 2024 season with a 73.1, followed by fellow first-team, All-OEC selections Natalie Neal of Mt. SAC (75.1), OCC's Michelle Khin (75.1), OCC's Jeanie Tahvildari (76.4) and Cuyamaca's Emma Rahn (79.1).
Second-team honors for All-OEC went to Mt. SAC's Sophia Miller (79.3), Mt. SAC's Alana Lo (79.5), OCC's Delylah Collins (79.9), Mt. SAC's Kaitlyn Wang (80.8), Cuyamaca's Danica Williams (81.5) and OCC's Sophia Tipton (84.4).
Up next for the OEC golfers will be the Southern California Regionals, which will take place on Nov. 10-11 at Los Serranos Golf Club, beginning at 9:20 a.m. each day.
