OEC Women’s Golf Locked and Loaded
Plenty of talent up and down the conference scoresheet as the 2024 campaign gets underway
The scores up and down the Orange Empire Conference for women's golf are improving year after and week after week. The 2024 season is no exception as some of the best golfers in the state take dead aim at the flag for a shot at the conference title.
Last year's OEC champs – Mt. San Antonio College – look to be the early-season favorites for 2024 with another pack of talented golfers.
Three golfers from last year's championship squad – Natalie Neal, Kylie Lau and Alana Lo – bring Mt. SAC talent AND experience and all three are off to stellar starts in 2024. Neal and Lau are 1-2 among all OEC golfers in scoring, with Neal carding a 75.0 average and Lau close behind at 76. Keep an eye on freshman Kaitlyn Wang, who has started her first two OEC contests strong with a 79-77, one of just four golfers to shoot back-to-back OEC scores under 80.
Orange Coast College brings a solid batch of golfers to the course each week and will challenge the Mounties for the top spot this year. Freshman standout Jeanie Tahvildari – the sister of last year's OEC MVP on the men's side, Tiger Tahvildari – is third among all golfers in scoring with a 76.5 average, with teammate Moe Pyae Sone Khin close behind with a 77.0 average.
Last year's OEC Golfer of the Year, Cuyamaca College's Kiana Glossner returns for the Coyotesand any team with her on it must be in consideration for the top spot. After finishing the regular season with an impressive 2023 scoring average of 72.0, Glossner currently sits fourth in the OEC at 76.5.
The Orange Empire Conference finals will take place on Oct. 28 and 30 at Costa Mesa Country Club's Mesa Linda course. The 3C2A State Championship will be on Nov. 17-18 at Monarch Dunes Golf Club in Nipomo.
