Fullerton's Jeon Earns Player of the Year Honors
The Orange Empire Conference Player of the Year and all-conference teams were determined by average scores posted in conference play and through the conference championship. This year's low medalist for the season and, thereby, the Orange Empire Conference Player of the Year is Fullerton College sophomore Eunsoo Jeon.
The Orange Empire Conference Player of the Year and all-conference teams were determined by average scores posted in conference play and through the conference championship. This year's low medalist for the season and, thereby, the Orange Empire Conference Player of the Year is Fullerton College sophomore Eunsoo Jeon.
Jeon averaged 73.9 strokes per round to win the award by 13 strokes over Irvine Valley College freshman Katie Stribling who averaged 75.7 strokes per round this season. Last year's OEC Player of the Year, Saddleback College sophomore Brittney Do, finished third in conference scoring at 77.1 strokes. Jeon, who finished third in conference scoring as a freshman with a 78.9 average, went on to capture the CCCAA individual state title this season with a two-day, 36-hole score of 2-under-par 142 on the Morro Bay golf course.
Joining Jeon, Stribling, and Do on the first-team all-conference list were Mt. San Antonio College sophomore Mackenzie Kelly along with Saddleback freshman Sunhae Son and Fullerton's Natalie Widjaja.
Making the second-team all-conference list were the Saddleback trio of Anna Stowers, Tannaz Khazeni, and Tomoko Kim along with the Mt. San Antonio pair of Cristina Liu and Brianna Rojo. Shelby Hahn of Fullerton rounded out the second-team all-conference list.
Saddleback head coach Bob Bosanko earned the conference's Coach of the Year award for the third consecutive season.
