OEC Teams Denied Trip To State Championship
All three Orange Empire Conference women's golf teams participating in the CCCAA Southern California Regional Championship failed to qualify for the CCCAA State Championship this weekend in Morro Bay. However, the top player from four OEC teams will advance to participate in the state championship as individuals.
All three Orange Empire Conference women's golf teams participating in the CCCAA Southern California Regional Championship failed to qualify for the CCCAA State Championship this weekend in Morro Bay. However, the top player from four OEC teams will advance to participate in the state championship as individuals.
Santa Barbara City College (661), Cuyamaca (662), College of the Canyons (696) and Moorpark (706) will represent Southern California at the state championship by virtue of their finish at the regional championship held earlier this week at the Temecula Creek golf course. OEC champion Saddleback (709) was just three shots away from returning to the state championship while Irvine Valley (713) and Fullerton (717) were also within striking distance.
Fullerton's Kaylee Jeon (pictured) was the individual medalist at the regional championship with a two-day score of 152 (75-77) and will advance to the state championship as an individual. Saddleback's Brittney Do (79-77) and Irvine Valley's Kylie Sok (82-74) shared individual runner-up honors at the regional championship and will also advance as individuals. Mt. San Antonio's Mackenzie Kelly was the fourth individual qualifer after posting a score of 163 (81-82).
The state championship will start at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday (Nov. 12) on the Morro Bay Golf Course with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start scheduled for Monday (Nov. 13).
