Lasers Take First Conference Match of the Season

The 2017 Orange Empire Conference schedule got underway recently at the Royal Vista golf course in a match hosted by Fullerton College.
Irvine Valley posted a team score of 341 to take the match while Saddleback finished second at 345. Mt. San Antonio (360) edged host Fullerton (371) for third place.
Fullerton's Kaylee Jeon carded a 78 to earn medalist honors while Kylie Sok of Irvine Valley (pictured) was a shot behind at 79. Saddleback freshman Brittney Do posted an 81.
Four of the five teams showed up with only four players - the minimum needed for a team score - so each shot was critical to the team outcome. Irvine Valley received an 83 from Vera Yuan while Saddleback sophomore Deanna Pagaduan also shot an 83. The Lasers used scores of 88 and 91 to finish out their team score while Saddleback was one shot higher at 89 and 92. Mt. San Antonio was paced by Alex LeMons (86) and MacKenzie Kelly (87). All other scorers in the match shot 91 or higher.
The teams will tee it up again on Wednesday (Sept. 20) in a match hosted by Orange Coast College at the Costa Mesa Country Club's Mesa Linda course. The team's will tee off starting at 10:30 a.m.
