Four OEC Teams Still Standing in CCCAA Regional Finals

The No. 1 Orange Coast College Pirates, No. 5 Cypress College Chargers, No. 8 Irvine Valley College Lasers and the No. 11 Riverside City College Tigers are still in the hunt for a California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championship berth. All four squads will enter into the Southern Regional Final round on Saturday, March 4.

It is another incredible year for the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) women’s basketball teams as four programs have earned bids to the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Southern Regional Playoffs. Orange Coast leads the charge as the top seed in the south, while No. 5 Cypress, No. 8 Irvine and No. 11 Riverside will all look to make a state championship appearance.

It was another "Game of the Year" between Orange Coast College and Cypress College on Wednesday night, as the Pirates overcame a rowdy crowd and a talented Chargers' squad to pull off a 77-73 overtime win to widen their lead in the Orange Empire Conference standings.

It was a huge night for Santa Ana Women's Basketball as the Dons (7-12, 2-3) pulled off a remarkable upset to hand the No. 2 ranked Orange Coast Pirates (20-1, 4-1) their first loss of the season.

It is any team’s title as the 2022-23 Orange Empire Conference (OEC) women’s basketball schedule is underway with three teams set to make a serious push for a conference title. The top four teams featuring Orange Coast, Riverside and Cypress a combined seven losses with the Pirates yet to lose a contest. Irvine Valley and Golden West are in the mix, while Fullerton and Santa Ana hope to make wiggle their way into the playoff conversation.
