Cypress College Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Brittany Imaku as the school's new Head Women's Basketball Coach, according to Athletic Director Wes McCurtis.
It is to no surprise that the Irvine Valley College women’s basketball team was awarded the most prestigious awards at the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) All-Conference meeting last Saturday. The lasers earned six all-conference nominations highlighted by Morgan Higgins being named the unanimous Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Head Coach Julie Hanks earning Coach of the Year.

The Irvine Valley women's basketball team was back at it again on Sunday afternoon at home. The Lasers played their fourth game this week (two make-ups due to COVID delays) and recorded a 4-0 mark. The Lasers, ranked No. 7 in the state, improved their record to 19-2 overall and 7-0 in the Orange Empire Conference with a 86-49 win over Orange Coast.
After failing to hit the hardwood in 2020-21, women’s basketball is ready to make a comeback with IVC, the eighth-ranked team in the California Community College Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (CCCWBCA) poll, as surely the favorite to pull off another conference title. They are the only ranked team in the conference with Golden West and Orange Coast receiving votes.
Cypress Chargers women's basketball (5-6) hosted the Compton Tartars (1-10) on Wednesday night. The Chargers rolled on their way to a 54-point victory, 76-22.
The Orange Coast College women's basketball team is not afraid of taking on the top competition and on Wednesday, the Pirates knocked off host Glendale College, 67-59, in a nonconference matchup.
