Gauchos and Pirates atop standings as season nears the end
The Saddleback College Gauchos are currently in first place in the OEC with Orange Coast College just one game back. The two teams meet on February 11.
With just four dates left in Orange Empire Conference competition, the Saddleback College Gauchos (16-9, 7-1) find themselves in first place with Orange Coast College (15-9, 6-2) right on their heels.
Behind the top two teams are Cypress College (14-12, 5-4) and Santa Ana College (14-10, 4-4). With just a half game difference, third place will be as tight of a battle as first place. Factoring into that battle is Irvine Valley College as the Lasers are 15-10 and 4-5.
What will make the final two weeks more interesting are the matchups left in conference play. Saddleback and Orange Coast square off on February 11 while Santa Ana still has to play both Cypress and Irvine Valley.
Santa Ana could play the biggest role in how the final standings fall as the Dons play at Irvine Valley, at Orange Coast, home against Saddleback and at Cypress to end the regular season.
