2021 OEC Softball Season Preview

The 2021 Orange Empire Conference (OEC) softball season is officially here as teams are set to compete starting Wednesday, April 14th. This year, the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) has limited all teams in the state to 28 official games resulting in the majority having to be played against conference opponents.

During OEC competition, teams will play a four game series against every opponent with each team having one bye week created by the absence of Riverside City College, who chose to opt-out of the 2021 season.

Another major change to the 2021 season is that there won't be a playoff schedule due to travel being greatly restricted throughout the state. With that in mind, the OEC softball coaches are exploring the possibility of hosting a conference tournament at the end of the OEC schedule. A decision has yet to be determined.

Opening day will kick off with some exciting matchups as Cypress hosts Santiago Canyon, Fullerton plays host to Orange Coast, Golden West visits Santa Ana while Saddleback starts the year with a bye.
