2022 Orange Empire Conference Men's Water Polo News
The Golden West College men's water polo team is a certified dynasty after winning its six-consecutive California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championships after defeating the West Valley College Vikings, 9-7, in double overtime.
The Golden West College Rustlers will represent the top seed for the men, while the Orange Coast College Pirates will act as the top seed for the women for the CCCAA State Championships starting this weekend.
Championship Saturday came and went, but not without dramatics and fireworks. Two teams came away with the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Championship title at tournament’s end as the Golden West College Rustler’s men’s team claimed their 33rd straight, while the Orange Coast College women’s team reigned supreme in an eight-overtime battle against top-seeded Fullerton.
The Fullerton College Hornets and the Orange Coast College Pirates will square off on Saturday to compete for an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Championships after Fullerton won their lone game of the day, while the Pirates route was a bit more challenging.
The Golden West men’s water polo program was picked by the sports information directors in the Orange Empire Conference to repeat as conference champions. The Rustlers are looking for their sixth straight state championship in 2022.
