2013 Water Polo Season Wraps Up with Golden West College Leading the Way

The Orange Empire Conference 2013 men's water polo season comes to a close with the Golden West Rustlers looking to to clinch their 25th consecutive OEC Championship and 43rd overall.

No. 1 Golden West (19-2, 5-0) is focused on bringing home the championship for the 25th straight year. Coming off an undefeated season last year, the men faced some of their toughest competition yet, seeing 2 losses in their book.

No. 2 Orange Coat College finishes their regular season play 19-4 overall, and 4-1. The only lost dealt to the Pirates was at the hand of Golden West in a close 13-10 defeat. OCC went undefeated for the last 3 games of the season, beating NorCal powerhouse West Valley 12-11. OCC has earned a bye for their first game in the OEC championships, and will play game 4 at 2:30pm on Friday.

No. 3 Riverside went 7-5 for their season, with a record of 3-2 in the OEC. The Tigers proved themselves a force in the water as No. 2 OCC squeezed out a win over RCC in a 12-11 decision. Riverside will face Saddleback in game 2 at 10:30am.


Fullerton (19-5, 2-3), Santa Ana (13-8, 1-4) and Saddleback (7-10, 0-5) will each have their chance to move up in the standings as they play to make it to the semifinals.
