Tee-Off Classic Gets 2016 Golf Season Going
The 2016 community college men's golf season kicked off the season with the Orange Empire Conference Tee-Off Classic, hosted at the Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills.
The 2016 community college men's golf season kicked off the season with the Orange Empire Conference Tee-Off Classic, hosted at the Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills.
Saddleback captured the team title on the first day, posting a five-man team score of 402 on the par-74 Los Serranos south course. The Gauchos were paced by sophomore Roberto Lievana (pictured) who shot an even-par round to earn medalist honors. Freshman Jack Lutz added a 78 for the Gauchos. Cypress posted a team score of 410 to finish second as Alec Montalbo led the Chargers' charge with a 77. Orange Coast (412) placed third with Austin Briggs posting a team-best 79.
The Tee-Off Classic concluded on Wednesday (Feb. 3) on the par-72 Los Serranos north course and Orange Coast led the field with a team score of 380. Justin Collins and Marcus DeLaRosa paced the Pirates with 73's while Briggs added a 75. The Pirate pair of Connor Hurst and Jordan Meas added 78's.
James Hochsprung fired a 1-under-par 71 to earn individual medalist honors and lead the Santiago Canyon Hawks to a second place team finish at 380 as sophomore Austin Trcka added a 75 and teammates Michael Lascari, Ben Livesay, and Ryan Mendoza all shot 78's. Cypress placed third at 398 with Dylan Hall carding a 77. Paul Bradvica of Riverside had a 74 as the Tigers placed fourth (401).
All six OEC teams will square off again in two weeks at the Eagle Classic, hosted by Mt. San Jacinto College at the Soboba Springs course on Feb. 17.
