Santiago Canyon back on top this week

Santiago Canyon posted a team score of 363 to edge past Riverside (369) and Orange Coast (377) in capturing this week's conference men's golf match hosted by Cypress and held at the Navy Course. 

Tanner Dice shot a 3-under par 69 and teammate Byron Busse carded a 2-under 70 to lead the Hawks while Cory Cannon came in at even-par 72 and Austin Trcka was just 2-over at 74.  Riverside's Wes Hatton also shot a 69 to share medalist honors and his Tiger teammates Chad Hambright and Cody Medlin each came in with 72's.

All six Orange Coast golfers carded scores in the 70's for a balanced attack, including three players with 74's (Bryson Bentley, Zach Eddy, Tetsu Kase).  Saddleback took fourth place as Kyle Small and Nick Prudhomme led the Gauchos with 75's on the way to a team score of 385.  Andrew Lichty carded a 75 to pace Irvine Valley, which finished fifth just two strokes behind Saddleback.  Host Cypress placed sixth as Connor Whitcomb paced the Chargers with a 76.

Orange Empire Conference play continues on Wednesday in a match hosted by Santiago Canyon College on the El Prado golf course.
