BOBCATS BLAST SAGEHENS FOR 9TH WIN
Brooklee Harris throws four touchdown passes in the win.
The Saddleback women's flag football team improved to 9-0 with a 48-0 shutout of Pomona Pitzer College on Wednesday in Claremont. The Bobcats now get some time off before playing in the MiraCosta College Tournament on March 6.
Saddleback was running on fumes, playing its sixth game in six days. It didn't show, as the Bobcats raced past the Sagehens to conclude the best week in the history of the program.
Saddleback scored three times in the opening quarter as Pomona Pitzer was caught flat-footed from the start. The Bobcats scored first when Makayla Velasquez intercepted a ball and returned it 35 yards for the opening score of the game.
Saddleback added two more touchdowns before the end of the first quarter. Brooklee Harris (pictured) threw touchdown passes to Mikaela Thibodeaux (3-yards) and Isabelle Whittaker (2-yards) as the Cats led 20-0 after the opening quarter.
Saddleback added two more scores before the half as Harris hooked up with Talita Robinson on a 5-yard touchdown pass before Kirra Clavijo found Olivia Green for a 10-yard score before the half.
Saddleback poured it on in the third quarter before taking their foot off the gas pedal. Karis Moore started the second-half scoring when she returned an interception 39 yards for a 41-0 lead. Harris then capped off the scoring with her fourth touchdown pass of the game, connecting with Robinson on a 15-yard score.
Saddleback is now 9-0 to start the season. The Bobcats will play next in the MiraCosta College Tournament on March 6. Saddleback is scheduled to face Grossmont College, El Camino College and host MiraCosta in the tournament.
