BRUBAKER, CAMPEAU TOP PLAYERS FOR OEC BASEBALL

BRUBAKER, CAMPEAU TOP PLAYERS FOR OEC BASEBALL
Cypress College catcher Dominic Campeau was named the Orange Empire Conference Player of the Year, while pitcher Tanner Brubaker was named the Pitcher of the Year for the 2018 season at Monday night's postseason meeting, as voted on by the conference's head coaches.

It was a clean sweep in the voting for Brubaker, who dominated the OEC this year, going 6-1 with three complete games and a 1.85 ERA for the Chargers. He led the conference in wins, complete games, innings pitched and ERA, while striking out 39 batters in 58 1/3 innings.

Campeau was a standout leader for the Chargers, batting .376 with 35 hits, nine extra base hits, four home runs and 18 RBI. He led the conference in hits, and slugging percentage (.581) and was in the top five among conference hitters in at-bats (93), RBI (18) and batting average.

For the second straight year, Orange Coast College head coach John Altobelli was named the conference's Coach of the Year, guiding the Pirates to back-to-back OEC titles. It had been 31 years at OCC since the Pirates accomplished that feat, with Mike Mayne leading Coast to back-to-back titles in 1986 and 1987. This year's Pirates finished the regular season 27-13 overall, 15-6 in conference, two games ahead of Saddleback (28-12, 13-8) and four games up on Riverside (25-15, 11-10).
